Map Tools

The Map Tools bar will display on any Map View interface unless it is hidden by the user. The toolbar contains critical functional elements for interacting with the map as well as special interactive elements outside of simple view management.

Legend

Opens the portal’s icon legend.

Map

The Map button opens a drop-down menu that allows users to toggle between the different map tile themes and change the appearance of the base layer. For more information, see the Map Tiles feature article.

Layers

The Layers button opens a drop-down menu that allows users to toggle on or off the various Map Layer options included with or installed on their account. Any checked Map Layers will be displayed as an overlay on the map interface. For more information, see the Map Layers feature article.

Get Route

Shortcut to opening the Get Route Tool. For more information, see the Get Route feature article.

Show Your Location

If a user has given the browser and application permission to use the location of the user’s device, it will display the user’s current position on the map with a radial circle indicating the margin of error of the location accuracy.

Hide Location

Toggles the visibility of the user’s location off.

Zoom To

Snaps the map to the center of the radial circle that shows the user’s location.

Ruler

Once activated, the Ruler tool shows users the distance (in default units) between any two points of any segment the user draws. Users can drag the positions after they’ve been placed and the distance calculations will update dynamically (while the user is dragging the endpoint) and automatically.

Zoom Options

Standard Zoom

Zoom in/out buttons work as they normally do on all map interfaces.

Zoom to Region

Zoom to Region requires users to click on it and then use their cursor to click and drag a box over the region to which they wish to zoom.

Reveal All

Reveal All is a special zoom setting that zooms the map to whatever zoom range is necessary to include all assets in the visible area.
